Slab with timber batten finish

1. Floorboards/finished floor fixed to timber batten.

2. Timber batten placed on floor.

3. Electrical services fixed to battens.

4. 35N10 grout in shear keys.

5. Plaster applied directly to textured soffit of slab.

6. Heating pipes located between battens

Rubber spacers are often placed between the battens and the slab to reduce the tranfer of impact noise through the floor.

Slab with structural screed
(used where higher loadings are required)

1. Structural screed.

2.Slabs coated with boarding before placing of structural screed.

3. Services fixed to battens below slabs.

4. Plasterboard finish below.

5. Concrete screed placed along with grouting of shear keys.

6. Timber battens placed in shear key to receive fixings from below.

Plaster direct to Slabs

Gleeson Precast floors have a textured soffit to allow a bond and skim finish to be applied directly to the slabs.

Battens

Dropped ceilings allow room for placing services underneath the slabs. Battens can be placed between slabs at the time of fitting to make counter battening easier.
